The transfer window is more or less closed and most of the expected major signings for Asian clubs have already taken place.
Riyadh’s Al-Hilal club is on a roll and has ended the previous season on a high winning the Saudi Professional League. It looks to affirm its role as the dominant club in the Gulf by signing these two big international footballing stars.
Australia may not have had the best Asian Cups, but this Australian defender can forget that as he has plenty to cheer about. The 24-year-old has recently joined Saudi champs Al Hilal’s robust side and was given a hero’s welcome when he arrived here.
Giovinco has left the Toronto FC side where he enjoyed a good season to join Al Hilal. The Italian footballing star has earlier played for Juventus and was in the playing 11 of Italy’s national team. He wrote a heartfelt post on his Instagram page as he leaves Toronto FC with whom he has spent the past couple of years with.
Al-Hilal has also hired a new head coach, Zoran Mamić, for the upcoming season.
Mamić who is a former Croatian international was the head coach of UAE’s Al Ain before making the transition. He has already arrived in Riyadh and has even begun training sessions.
