Following up on the breaking news that Saudi Arabia Has Just Granted Girls The Right To Participate In Physical Education At School, the Ministry of Education has taken it up as their responsibility to start training female physical instructors.
The Ministry has began with training 46 women to become PE supervisors spread out in girls’ schools all over the country by the beginning of the academic year.
PE is not yet part of the syllabus
Despite Physical Education not being a part of the school syllabus yet, it will be made available as an after school activity for all females attending.
Haya bint Abulaziz, the Ministry’s undersecretary for girls’ education in the Kingdom, stated that PE will become part of daily classes soon enough in all girls’ schools.
Because of the implementation of the new law, 160 vacancies have been announced for the position of female physical education supervisor. To receive this position candidates will have to fulfil the terms and conditions of the Ministry before sitting for a competence test.
