The Saudi national team succeeded to advance to the quarter-final of the AFC U-23 Championship, which determines who will qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The national team played their final group match against the Syrian team yesterday. The Saudi team was 70% in possession of the ball throughout the match but didn’t score any goals.
In the second half of the march, the Saudi team kept the pressure and continued to attack for the first 15 minutes. The pressure then decreased gradually only to return during the last 15 minutes of the match. As Feras Al-Birakan scored the winning goal in the 80th minute to give Saudi Arabia a 1-0 win over Syria.
