Schools And Universities In Al Qatif Have Been Suspended Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

Classes, universities and educational institutions in Al-Qatif region have been suspended for two weeks, starting Sunday, due to the novel Coronavirus.

The decision was issued yesterday at 9:20 PM and included 319 schools to ensure the students’ safety.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education launched an alternative educational method through online learning or virtual school, using a specially designated website or smart-phone application. Hence, students will be able to resume their studies from home. There will also be a direct communication between students and educational staff to answer their questions.

The decision was issued after the detection of 7 coronavirus cases and the disclosure of 128 persons about their travel in Iran, of which 26 are now back in the kingdom.

The suspension includes all students in Qatif whose schools or universities are located inside or outside Al-Qatif

Hashtag #bring_forward_exams_before_Ramadan also trended on Twitter. According to the Al-Awaimry survey, there are more than 1,600 people who support the idea of bringing forward exams, while there are 489 against this idea.
